This bronze sculpture portrays the bust of a young street urchin or fisherman with a lively character, made evident by the cigarette hanging casually from his lips and his half-closed gaze. The figure wears a floppy hood and a sort of woven net or shoulder strap, elements that suggest a popular and maritime setting typical of the Neapolitan realist school of the late nineteenth or early twentieth century.
The fusion presents a wavy and material surface, with a dark patina that accentuates the contrasts of light on the features of the face. The work rests on a base of veined marble blocks which, unfortunately, shows some signs of aging and missing edges. On the back of the neck the signature of Achille D'orsi engraved in bronze is visible, while the hollow structure of the bust is fixed to the base via a central threaded pin.
