“Ovalen” model coffee table in teak, designed by Carl Malmsten and accompanied by the original manufacturer's label. The oval top, thin and perfectly proportioned, is supported by four slender legs that fit naturally under the band, creating a harmonious and continuous whole. The design is almost organic: the curved lines of the top interact with the soft shapes of the crosspieces, while the slightly arched legs give lightness and movement. Carl Malmsten was a central figure of twentieth-century Swedish design, known for his independent position compared to the most rigorous functionalism. Supporter of a cultured tradition rooted in Nordic craftsmanship, he promoted a human, domestic and timeless design, based on proportion, quality of materials and executive mastery. “Ovalen” fully embodies this vision, combining simple elegance and natural warmth.
