“Maria Flap” model folding table designed by Bruno Mathsson and produced by Firma Karl Mathsson, with original brand imprinted and dated 1969. Made of oak, the table is equipped with an ingenious opening system with four folding wings, each 66 cm long, which allows the surface to be progressively modulated up to a maximum length of 283 cm.
The project reflects the philosophy of Mathsson, a central figure of post-war Swedish modernism, known for his research on ergonomics, structural lightness and domestic functionality. The essential lines and the rational structure make the constructive logic of the piece evident, while the folding system allows a fluid transformation between a compact configuration and a large convivial table. The “Maria Flap” model effectively represents the designer's interest in flexible and intelligent furnishings, designed to naturally adapt to the spaces of the modern home.
