Refined pair of German ceramic tiles produced by the famous Somag Meissen factory (Sächsische Ofen- und Wandplattenfabrik AG) between 1900 and 1910.
These specimens are an excellent example of Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau), characterized by a stencil decoration with elegant stylized floral motifs. The chromatic contrast between the cobalt blue and the ivory background reflects the formal cleanliness typical of turn-of-the-century German design.
The presence of two perfectly coordinated tiles makes them ideal as symmetrical decorative elements or for valuable restoration projects.
