Fascinating double-handled jug in polychrome majolica, splendid example of rural art from Southern Italy (Puglia/Basilicata), dating back to the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century. Characterized by the typical lobed "clover" mouth and decorated with quick brushstrokes in cobalt blue and yellow ocher on a cream background, this jug embodies the authentic spirit of Mediterranean ceramics.
The object has a solid and material structure (725g), modeled entirely by hand on the lathe. The rough base and the small asymmetries are evidence of its artisanal and non-industrial manufacturing. The slight lacks of enamel consistent with age and historical use are not defects, but "scars of time" which increase its charm and guarantee the originality of the antique piece. An object of great character, ideal for rustic furnishings, country-chic kitchens or as a unique piece in a contemporary environment.
