Antique folding service table from the Umbertine period, dating back to 1880 - 1890.
This type of tables were used as service tables or in small environments. Once used, they were closed and placed against a wall where, like English sail tables, the top was transformed into a decorative element almost like a painting.
Very often they were also used on ships as they were very practical and easily resealable.
The coffee table for sale is in perfect condition, the legs are spool turned, and support the top made of fir and walnut veneer with mirrored panels, the edge moldings are instead ebonised.
Under the table a system of guides with bronze wheels allows for easy closing.
Conceived as a practical piece of furniture, it combines the beauty and craftsmanship of the past with the utility and versatility required of furnishings today, its design adapts to any furnishing style.
