Pair of teak bedside tables with folding door and metal handle. Production A. Chr. Laursen, Denmark, 1950s.
Pair of bedside tables produced by A. Chr. Laursen in Nykøbing Falster, a Danish manufacturer active in the mid-twentieth century and known for solid and functional production, linked to the most authentic Scandinavian design language. Made of teak, these bedside tables stand out for their clean lines and some high-quality construction details: the tapered legs with crosspiece, the visible joints and the elegant, slightly inclined flap door, embellished with a metal handle with an essential design. The interior, veneered in light wood, creates a refined chromatic contrast with the warmer exterior. The compact proportions and linearity of the design make them perfectly in line with the Danish production of the 1950s, recalling the work of designers such as Børge Mogensen and the manufacturers of the time oriented towards functional design without excess.
