Item description

Rare Moche stirrup spout effigy vessel in polished black ceramic. Depicts a seated female figure with elaborate headdress riding a large marine creature (fish). Finely modeled with detailed incised scales, fins, and sculpted human features. Classic stirrup handle and spout with characteristic glossy surface and natural patina. Masterful blend of realism and mythology, typical of Moche ritual and burial art. Provenance:Formerly in a European private collection; acquired 1920s on the Vienna antiques market (Austria). The object has been in Europe for several decades.NOTE: This item ships only within the European Union (EU countries only)!
