Item description

Made in Italy, 1960s. The Manufacturer: Nani Peltro The brand belongs to the company Nani Peltro, a historic business from Bergamo (specifically Alzano Lombardo), founded by Giacinto Nani in the post–World War II period. Giacinto Nani was one of the most famous pewter masters of the 20th century in Italy. He began his activity in the 1940s, bringing Bergamo’s artistic pewter to levels of international excellence. Inside the circle, you can clearly read “PELTRO - NANI - ROMANO.” The term “Romano” often refers to a location or a specific line, but the heart of production has always been in the Bergamo area. At the center of the circle there is usually the symbol of a lion’s head (or a warrior, depending on the era of the hallmark), which was their distinctive mark. The rectangular hallmark “ESEGU. A MANO” (made by hand) confirms that the piece is not industrially stamped, but crafted using traditional techniques (often cast in iron molds and finished on a lathe or by chasing). Nani objects are highly appreciated in the vintage and antiques market for two main reasons: High-Quality Alloy: They used a high-tin alloy (lead-free), which gives that bright and “warm” appearance typical of fine pewter. Design: They often collaborated with artists and designers, making their boxes and vases iconic decorative pieces of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. Order it now!
