Item description

Pair of low lounge chairs (also known as slipper chairs or short chaise longues) from the 19th century, crafted in the Louis Philippe or Victorian style. Boat-shaped profile: The backrest and seat create a continuous, sinuous, highly anatomical support line, designed for maximum formal comfort. Wooden frame: The perimeter frame is finely carved from dark solid wood (likely walnut or ebonized mahogany), featuring inverted scrollwork at the top of the backrest. Ebonized legs: The front legs are turned and shaped according to the typical canons of 19th-century European antiques. Upholstery: The seat is quilted with a longitudinal row of buttons covered in matching fabric to stabilize the internal padding. Twin chairs of this quality were historically placed in the living rooms or master bedrooms of the upper middle classes of the 19th century.
