Item description

Rare set of 4 high chairs from the 1960s designed by Danish designer Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen and produced by Søren Willadsen in Denmark. The set consists of two chairs with armrests and two without. Chairs without armrests (2 pieces) The chairs have an elegant and slender line, typical of Danish design from the 1960s. The backrest is high and slightly inclined to offer good back support, with a clean and minimalist shape. The seat is large and covered in dark brown leather, the whole conveys sobriety, elegance and comfort. Chairs with armrests (2 pieces) These versions maintain the same formal language as the simple chairs, but are more important and comfortable thanks to the integrated armrests. The structure is finely crafted, with curved and thin armrests that connect harmoniously to the front legs, creating a fluid and refined line. Both types are in excellent vintage condition, with normal signs of use consistent with age and a beautiful patina that enhances the original character of the set. In the last photo you can see a small break in the leather. Dimensions: armchairs H 89 cm. seat height 43 cm. Width 62 cm. Depth 75 Chairs H 89 cm. H seat 44 cm. Width 48 cm. Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen – Danish designer Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen was a Danish designer and architect active mainly in the modernist design period of the mid-twentieth century. Born in 1920, he specialized in the design of furniture, in particular chairs, armchairs and pieces of furniture with a typical Scandinavian modernist taste. His work is characterized by elegant and functional forms, clean lines and quality materials such as hardwood and leather, typical elements of the Danish design aesthetic of the 1950s and 1960s. Larsen collaborated with several Danish furniture factories, including Søren Willadsen, for whom he designed a series of chairs and armchairs that are today sought after as examples of Scandinavian vintage and mid-century modern design. Søren Willadsens Møbelfabrik Søren Willadsens Møbelfabrik was an important Danish furniture factory, founded in 1904 and developed under the leadership of Søren Willadsen. Known for producing high quality furniture, it combined traditional craftsmanship and modern woodworking techniques. The factory collaborated with many prominent designers of the period, including Finn Juhl, Jørgen and Nanna Ditzel, and Kai Lyngfeldt Larsen, helping to produce Danish modernist furniture pieces for both domestic and international markets. These collaborations allowed the factory to gain an international reputation during the Scandinavian design boom in the mid-20th century.
