Rare 18th-century Russian devotional icon depicting the Guardian Angel (Ангел Хранитель) flanked by Saint Alexius the Man of God on the left and Saint Macrina on the right, with Christ Pantocrator above.
Painted in traditional egg tempera on a thick wooden panel with original gold leaf background. The reverse bears the period inscription “икона 2-го сорта” (icon of the second sort), a characteristic marking from Russian icon workshops of the era.
Provinance: Formerly in a European private collection, purchased mid 20th century on the Austrian antiques market. The object has been in Europe for several decades, last owner antiques dealer of Vienna, Sir A. Elnady.
