Item description

Rectangular parallelepiped shaped container, open at the top, designed to contain objects. The upper perimeter is covered in brass, the same material used for the fixed horizontal handle. The style is a perfect example of 1970s glamorous design. The combination of clean and geometric shapes with an organic and luxurious material such as the tortoiseshell effect is typical of the high-end French design productions of the 70s. This is a piece attributable to the French production of the historic Maison Mercier of Paris, a company active until 1985, known for the production of luxury accessories in plexiglass (lucite) with tortoiseshell effect during the 70s. Often these pieces were made in collaboration or in the style of great designers such as Christian Dior or Willy Rizzo. Its condition is good, with the material maintaining its shine.
