A rare pair of vintage nightstands designed by Jindřich Halabala for UP Závody in Czechoslovakia during the 1940s. The nightstands feature a compact, rounded cabinet form with a distinctive stepped upper section, dark contrasting surfaces, and integrated handles.
Each nightstand has a single front door providing enclosed storage, while the raised upper section adds additional character and visual depth. The pieces stand on solid wooden plinth bases, reflecting Halabala's functional yet sculptural approach to furniture design.
The combination of warm wood tones, rounded corners, and contrasting dark finishes gives this pair a distinctive early modernist character. They work well as bedside tables or occasional cabinets in a vintage or mid-century interior.
