The PH 5, designed by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen in 1958, is one of the most representative projects of the Danish designer's research into lighting. The distinctive system of overlapping lampshades was created to distribute light in a controlled manner, reducing glare and creating uniform illumination. The multi-element construction defines an immediately recognizable form, in which function and geometry coincide. With its 50 cm diameter, the lamp maintains a powerful yet balanced presence, ideal above a dining table, in a living room, or in a workspace. An icon of Danish lighting that retains the power of the original design intact: a form built around light, which over time has become one of the symbols of twentieth-century Scandinavian design.
