This exceptional antique Italian console table dates from the late 17th to early 18th century and reflects the grandeur of the Louis XIV period interpreted through the distinctive craftsmanship of Italian Baroque furniture. Its imposing sculptural character is defined by a richly carved and gilded wooden structure, animated by scrolling foliage, shell motifs and elaborate ornamental details. The deeply carved apron features a prominent central shell cartouche surrounded by sweeping volutes and foliate decoration, while the elegantly shaped legs continue the dynamic movement of the design. The generous proportions and elaborate carving give the console a strong architectural presence, making it particularly effective as a statement piece in an entrance hall, drawing room or refined classical interior. The upper section is fitted with a striking Yellow Siena marble top, whose warm golden tones and natural veining create a distinguished contrast with the aged gilding. The combination of carved wood, gilded decoration and richly coloured Italian marble is particularly characteristic of the luxurious decorative vocabulary associated with prestigious historic interiors. The console has been professionally restored and retains the imposing decorative character of the original period piece, together with the patina and visual depth developed through its history. The restoration should be regarded as part of the conservation history of an antique object of this age. Measuring 140 cm in width, 57 cm in depth and 87 cm in height, this substantial console combines exceptional decorative impact with a highly versatile architectural form. A rare and visually commanding example of Italian Louis XIV furniture, distinguished by its exuberant carving, gilded finish and beautiful Yellow Siena marble top. Its sculptural quality and historical character make it an important decorative piece for both traditional and sophisticated contemporary interiors.
