Item description

Antique 18th-century Italian painting, oil on canvas depicting a religious subject, Madonna and Child with Saint Felix of Cantalice, adorned with putti and cherubs. A beautifully scaled and proportioned painting, characterized by vibrant colors and good luminosity. The work appears to reference the famous mystical tradition according to which the Madonna, having appeared to the saint in prayer, handed him the baby Jesus to hold close to his chest. The painting has undergone conservative restoration, relining, replacement of the stretcher, and restoration of the color in some areas. With a beautiful patina, the work is in overall good condition.
