Antique Italian painting of the 17th century. Oil painting on canvas depicting religious subject St. John the Baptist by a good pictorial hand. Painting of great size and impact with antique wooden frame (not contemporary) finely carved and gilded. The frame has undergone a conservative restoration during the twentieth century. A painting for antiquarians, interior decorators and collectors of antique religious paintings, ideal for inclusion in a salon or study. Work that has recently undergone intensive conservation restoration, re-tinting, frame replacement and colour restoration in several places (see photo). Restored painting in good condition. Light painting H 142 x W 84 cm.
