Torcello walnut bookcase by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Stildomus, 1960s
Torcello bookcase, an innovative project in the early 1960s that allowed wooden panels to be joined by a metal profile. Torcello is an example of good cabinet-making and innovation. The wood is walnut. The doors are completely airtight, dustproof and have a male-female closing system. The small parts are made of brass. The cabinet rests on trunks lined with ultra-pressed felt placed underneath, designed to be decorative as well as functional. The hinge is unique, elegant and unobtrusive. Finished also on the back, the showcase can also be used as a centrepiece. Afra & Tobia Scarpa For Stilldomus 1964
