Sormani Nucleo Set of 2 Table Lamps in Travertine by G. Cesari, 1970s, Italy

The Nucleo division was established to complement the Sormani production with accessories. A series of Avant Garde lighting elements was thus created. The vintage travertine lamp series is another example of the company's flexibility in the use of materials (steel, Perspex, marble, travertine, aluminium extrusions, plastic etc.). This pair of lamps by Giuliano Cesari was the first, original attempt to use a typically Italian stone such as travertine to manufacture state-of-the-art furnishing items. The lamps can be used as shown or superposed on the sizes in different ways, to create a sculptural effect. They are perfectly functioning and, although the stone shows some aging and chaps in the lower part, the chromed part on the back is in perfect condition (and totally original). Lamp bulbs are mirrored. The size of each lamp is height cm 35x W 25 x D 12 (inches: 13" 25/32 x 9" 27/32 x 4" 23/32). The set comes with a certificate of origin on original Sormani letterhead.
