Item description
Lovely pair of armchairs designed in the 1950s by Gio Ponti for the fine Italian manufacturer Altamira. The armchairs are wonderfully rare and it's original fabric has been refreshed and reupholstered with a gorgeous black and white striped cotton. The armchairs have a walnut wood frame, supported by 4 cylindrical diagonal spike feet that support the body of the seat. The armchair has a backrest that is tilted far backward from the norm, designed to give unique comfort. The seat is very deep and is framed by two trapezoidal armrests with softly padded edges. Each armrest reaches up to the middle of the backrest. As mentioned before, the backrest is far back and has a rectangular shape with slightly bulging ears. This pair of armchairs is not only a great piece of furniture, but can also be used as a star piece of furniture, given its eye-catching and certainly flashy texture.
