Item description

Large Venetian wall mirror, dating from the Louis XV period, mid-18th century. Finely and richly hand-carved wood with scrolls and curls. A putto's head carved into the wood appears at the top. Fully gilded in gold leaf that has acquired a beautiful antique patina. Beautiful construction of the back where the antique woods can be clearly seen. These large mirrors graced the ballrooms of ancient Venetian houses. The mirror is antique mercury, has minor flaws caused by the passage of years. Beautiful antique patina.
