We are pleased to present this stunning oil painting on plywood, dating back to the late 19th century. This magnificent painting depicting a reclining girl is signed lower right: A. Villa. It is probably a work by the Italian painter Aleardo Villa (Revello, 12 February 1865 – Milan, 31 December 1906), without authentication.
The painting portrays a young girl lying down, leaning on a large pillow. In front of her lies a large bouquet of flowers, probably hydrangeas. The girl, with a thick mane of curly black hair, has typical Mediterranean features. The great artistic quality of this small painting is evident in the bold, textural brushstrokes and soft colors that perfectly complement the romantic atmosphere of the scene. The girl is absorbed in her thoughts and the painter managed to convey her expression with great elegance and naturalness. This fantastic little painting transports you into the romantic thoughts of a young girl, allowing you to abandon yourself to the pleasure of the imagination: perhaps she is thinking of the boy in love who gave her the beautiful bouquet of flowers! If you love Italian painters of the late nineteenth century, you absolutely must add this wonderful painting to your collection. A stunning work of art that will enchant your guests!
The painting is framed in a magnificent 19th century giltwood frame.
