Item description

Italian-made bookcase-furniture from the 1970s made in the style of Romeo Rega or Renato Zevi, in one large octagonal shape. The organic curves of the brass-plated structure support several clear glass shelves, perfect for displaying your collection of objects. The base is composed of two rectangular pieces of black lacquered wood with curved edges and brass fittings. The piece is finished with a light on top in the centre. Originally imported from a private estate in the south of France, this elegant display was produced during the Hollywood Regency period of the 1970s. This piece was originally designed to house a hi-fi system - with spaces for records at the bottom, for speakers at the sides and for an amplifier in the centre - and would have formed the centrepiece of what we now know as a movie theatre. The display unit is divided into five pieces: two bases and three shelves, the division of which can be seen in the pictures. Overall, the unit is in very good and sturdy condition. It shows some sporadic signs of wear, as is normal for a piece over fifty years old, but nothing serious or too annoying. It is an impressive piece of shelving, but modern and elegant enough to fit into more recent interiors. The designer is unknown. Good original condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor scratches, patina or discolouration as is normal. Height 180 cm, width 240 cm, depth 50 cm.
