Oil painting on canvas depicting a female portrait, made by Alfio Rapisardi in the 1960s-70s.
Rapisardi's style is the result of a refined blend of tradition, particularly Tuscan Renaissance culture, and the avant-garde. The legacy of the Renaissance can be found in the rational spirit that guides the elaboration of the compositions, which are characterized by a perfect balance of shapes and colors, arranged in a strongly geometric sense. However, the subjects are broken down, creating a complex spatiality that looks to Cubism, and synthesized in an abstracting sense.
Without the frame the painting measures 50 x 35 cm.
