Graceful and particular colored opaline glass basket made between 1965 and 1970. It was blown in a single piece without joints, then masterfully modeled by skilled and creative glass masters in an artisanal furnace in Murano (Italy). The most difficult and particular operation is to leave the opaline white on the outside of the object and make the inside with other colors: to do this, metal oxides are added to obtain the different colors when the white draft has already left the furnace, at the precise moment in which the oxides begin to melt and amalgamate with the white, the craftsman begins the blowing and shaping of the object also stretching the glass to form the handles and join them; this action must be done quickly, so that the colors are distributed only on the surface of the object without penetrating it, as if they were brushstrokes. Once this is done, the object is put back in the kiln for a very short time and then it is cooled quickly. It is an operation that not everyone is able to do, in fact it is only delegated to glass masters. The object is then taken to the grinding department where expert craftsmen proceed with sandblasting, finishing and finally polishing. The creation of this object confirms that the Venetian aptitude, celebrated over the centuries, for working glass is an alchemical combination of liquid matter elaborated by the artisan intelligence with happy artistic intuitions. What may seem like small defects inside or outside the glass (bubbles, lumps, streaks, etc.) are instead evidence of the craftsmanship of the object.
