Pair of gilded and burnished bronze Empire candelabra, 19th century
The design of this pair of candelabra unfolds from the finely chiselled burnished bronze figure and its perfect anatomy, covered only by a shy veil that encircles its chest, shoulders and intimate parts. Ideally, the two figures hold a central stump from which five chiselled and gilded bronze arms open. The bases are a mixture of decorative elements, embellished on the sides by relief ornamentation, again in the neo-classical style.
