This splendid painting, inspired by Jean Baptiste Monnoyer, shows a vase with a rich flower bouquet resting on a stone surface, its shape emphasised by the contrasting shadows, while the well-defined flowers with their vivid colours display a significant descriptive force. Our vase of flowers can be persuasively juxtaposed with several works that can certainly be attributed to Monnoyer.
