Item description
Vase by Carlo Zauli made of warm gray stoneware with banded decoration, 1960s. Engraved signature under the base. After winning major awards dedicated to ceramic art in the 1950s, the early 1960s saw Carlo Zauli (1926-2002) evolve toward a markedly sculptural interpretation of his craft. In this period he matured his own artistic language, imbued with an informal character and interwoven with a harmonious but disruptive "naturalness"; these were the years of his growing international success. His fame grew until in the 1970s and 1980s it reached all of Europe, Japan and North America, where he held exhibitions and installed permanent displays of his works.
