The buildings were constructed on the site of the pulp and pine bath factory. The glassworks originally belonged to the Polanica-zdrój spa and produced 0.33-litre bottles of mineral water. On 1 April 1974, it was taken over by the 'sudety' glassworks and was reconstructed in December 1974. It started production under the name 'barbara' artistic glassworks. In the same year, Zbigniew Horbowy joined the company, working as artistic director. A design studio was set up to create short utility glass series. The studio team included Lucyna Pijaczewska, Ludwik Ferenc, Kazimierz Krawczyk and Czesław Zuber. From 1992 onwards, the steel mill operated as a private factory, mainly fulfilling orders from foreign customers. The 'barbarian' steelworks operated until 2018, when the plant was liquidated.
