Rug by Sandra Marconato, 1970s. Complete with authentication by the artist. Knotted entirely by hand. After completion it was displayed at the Adelphi Gallery in Padua during one of the artist's exhibitions. Sandra Marconato (1927-2016) lived and worked in Padua. She studied at the Venice Art Institute and was a student of Anna Akerdal, professor of weaving. She studied at the Kvinnlge Industri Skole in Oslo. For her, weaving was not just a craft, but a set of materials, forms and designs that transformed textile creation into art. Marconato moved from this to an even broader field of research, also enriched by the teaching of Carlo Scarpa.
