Item description

Description: Rare pair of large French Napoleon III mirrors from the second half of the 19th century in gilded and carved wood. The particular shape with "Rocaille" friezes with floral motifs and racemes in Louis XV style is further embellished by the presence of a slender cyma ending in a precious carving. The 24kt gold leaf gilding is resting on a layer of bole substance used as a base on which to lay the gold leaf. The mercury mirror is original of the period. Provenance: 19th century France. Measurements: 80x30 H140cm. Document: Certificate of Authenticity.
