Female bust in Carrara marble, 19th century. The sculpture depicts a noble woman, richly dressed. Certainly a portrait, as can be seen from the great physiognomic typification of her face. The depicted woman has an austere look and attitude, an element that distinguished the sculptural portraits of the time. Her hair is tied at the nape of her neck in an elaborate braided hairstyle. Her neck is adorned with a choker with a central medallion and several strings of pearls. She is wearing a dress that leaves her shoulders bare, finished with a thin lace border and a bow in the middle of her chest. The sculptor's great skill in the use of the chisel to refine the details and in the material rendering of the fabrics.
