Etching "Lodi" by Gabriel Bodenehr (Augsburg 1664 – 1765). Gabriel Bodenehr the Elder was a German engraver and publisher. Son of Johan, a burin engraver, he engraved various historical and topographical subjects including a close-up view of Passau (1710) and a series of 127 illustrations for the Bible. He is known today for his Atlas Curieux (1704). His son, Gabriele the Younger (1705-1779), followed his father in his profession and was a well-known engraver in the black manner specializing in portraits. This print is taken from the atlas on the Force d'Europe fortifications of 1725. The defensive structure of the city of Lodi is represented. The artist focuses on the description of the city walls and the fortification system that was implemented thanks to the Adda. He deliberately neglects the description of the interior of the city, where the title is engraved. On the left there is historical-statistical information on the city in German. In the lower right corner "G. Bodenehr exc. Aug. Vind.". Excellent impression. Excellent state of conservation. Wide margins beyond the copper mark.
