Charles X mantelpiece entirely panelled in elm burl, Lombardy third decade of the 19th century. Attributable to the production of Paolo Moschini, a skilled marquetry and cabinetmaker active between Soncino, his birthplace, and Milan in the first half of the 19th century. Front with architrave and projecting plinths, joined by double columns finely fluted and embellished with gilded wooden capitals, the upper ones carved with frets and acanthus leaves. Base and architrave corners threaded in amaranth, column profiles threaded in ebony. Central mercury mirror set within frame.
