Horák's world is as if not of this world... his floor lamps turn into carnivorous plants, but despite all the fantasy and poetry, his creations are also endowed with functionality as well as atmosphere, fantasy and dreams. The 'Silueta' floor lamp features a patinated, sandblasted and perforated iron structure that produces fascinating light effects. Made entirely by hand, it is considered a true work of art. Horák is a master of metal; no one else can bend, assemble and weld iron and aluminium tubes and metal plates into new shapes the way he does... however, the delicate and creative violence he wields on the metal with increasing mastery is only one aspect of his art, because Horák is also a master of the surface.
With various colour treatments and pigmented layers he modifies and enriches the surfaces of his metals, and in the end nothing remains as it was... the materials he works with transform like a cameo into other forms, and no fragment resembles another. Every single object designed by Bohuslav (Boda) Horak is handmade, so the final touch is given by the designer himself so that each piece is unique... for this reason please allow for sizes and colours that deviate from the illustrations in his catalogue. Boda Horak has participated in prestigious exhibitions in some famous international galleries such as Binnen in Amsterdam, Jannone in Milan, Ferrero1947 in Turin, the Moss Gallery in New York, the Limn Gallery in San Francisco, UNICA Las Vegas, etc. His works are regularly published at home and abroad, in many art magazines and books, and are also exhibited in the world's most famous design and applied art museums and in some private collections. Anthologie Quartett produces a wide range of products specially created by architects and designers who are characterised by a very different or often completely antithetical design philosophy.
Anthologie Quartett was founded in September 1983 in Hanover, as a gallery collecting pieces of architecture, design, fashion and art.
