Item description

Set with cup and saucer in Capodimonte porcelain for Ginori. Historiated bas-reliefs with scenes from Ovid's Metamorphoses. Ginori manufacture with Capodimonte mark made in Doccia (Florence), second half of the 19th century. The cup features bucolic scenes in relief painted in polychrome and gold: the handle is a perfect imitation of coral. The saucer follows the polychrome decoration of the cup, with festoons in relief. Ginori, originally a Florentine manufacturer, acquired the Capodimonte moulds from the Royal Factory as early as 1821 and the right to use the crowned N mark. Slight chipping on the rim of the cup, previously restored.
