Rare Neapolitan Empire mirror of oval shape in gilded and carved wood belonging to the early 19th century. The edge features three types of carving including one with palmette glass-stoppers, one with a floral motif that characterises a large part of the structure and one with racemes that embellish both the cyma and the part below. The gilding is 24kt gold leaf and rests on a layer of bole substance used as a base on which to lay the gold leaf. The mercury mirror is original of the period. Provenance Naples, early 19th century.
