Item description

Antique French Napoleon III writing desk in mahogany with expertly chiselled gilt bronze appliqués. The rectangular-shaped top is surrounded by a gilt bronze railing with a chiselled skin in the centre surrounded by a wooden reserve placed across it. The under-top band also embellished with bronze garnishes bearing a palmette motif contains two side drawers identifiable by a finely chiselled gilt bronze spout. The four truncated cone-shaped feet with grooves bear a fine capital, also in bronze, and end in slippers of the same material. Excellent condition. Provenance France, 19th century.
