Napoleon III style French console table in black wood and Carrara arabesque marble, 19th century
The entire structure is in black painted oak wood; the top, which supports the marble top, has the classic hand-carved Napoleonic decorations on the edge; the four legs have a smooth body and are tapered towards the bottom; the rear legs, in the lower part, are joined by a long crosspiece which, in turn, connects to the front legs with semicircular elements, thus creating a sinuous and light movement which makes the entire piece of furniture stable and solid, capable of supporting the weight of the marble top. Remarkable and refined is the leaf decoration, also carved, placed at the central intersection of the crosspieces. The type of marble used for this console is very important, it is in fact Arabesque Carrara marble.
