Item description

Submerged Murano glass bowl in the style of Flavio Poli, 1960s. There are many different types of glass created by master craftsmen on the Venetian island of Murano: from vases as thin as air to expressive sculptures, even solid objects with deep and vivid colour tones represent the great skill of glassmakers. The bowl shown here, designed in the style of Flavio Poli but not directly attributed to him, is a perfect example of how fascinating Murano solid glass can be. Made of submerged glass in shades of violet and aquamarine, it has a teardrop shape and a rounded bottom. It may have originated as an ashtray or simply as a bowl/decorative piece. It can be dated to approximately the mid-1960s, depending on the style and colours. It is not signed, like most pieces of that era, but shows great craftsmanship and is preserved in excellent condition. No cracks, dents or damage of any kind are visible and only a slight patina reveals that this is a 50-year-old object.
