Savonarola chair in painted walnut, 1960s
Savonarola Red Throne chair. Built in the 1960s in Renaissance style. Armrests with carved lion heads. Back carved with Renaissance decorative motifs. The chair was originally walnut-coloured, but was repainted for use in a theatre piece in the 1970s with enamel colour and a light silvering in the background. The chair is foldable. The enamelling is approximate, but of scenic effect. The structure is solid and sturdy. The wood is all solid.
