Item description
Pair of armchairs by Gio Ponti for ISA Bergamo, 1950s. Elegant armchairs with high backrests and refined curved lines of unmistakable design; they excellently represent the refined and sober style of the period. Designed by Gio Ponti, one of Italy's greatest architects and designers, who dictated the style of postwar Italian design and still sets the standard for innovation, flair and beauty. They were produced by ISA Industria Salotti e Arredamenti founded in the late 1940s in Ponte San Pietro, a small town outside Bergamo. In the 1950s, thanks to its success producing to the designs of great designers such as Gio Ponti and Guglielmo Veronesi, ISA increased production to 400 workers. The armchairs are in excellent state of preservation, the wooden structure is original and intact and has no defects. The upholstery has just been replaced with a deep steel blue silk velvet that makes them modern but at the same time classic and elegant. These armchairs, which are a piece of design history, can be combined with both modern and antique furniture. Matching sofa also available (contact seller for more information).
