Item description

Etching/burin depicting Scipio triumphant, post 1802. Engraving on paper transferred onto canvas. Bleeded print. It bears the inscription "Part of the triumph of Scipio - dedicated to His Excellency Nicola Blasco D'Orosco Knight of the Order of Jerusalem". The engraver is Giuseppe Longhi (1766-1831), the inventor is Pietro Bonaccorsi known as Perin del Vaga (1501-1547), the designer is Opizio Amos Nattini (1757-1800 post). Print: 40.6 x 68.4 cm. Total sheet with frame: 47 x 75 cm. The work is part of a series, carved by Longhi and some of his students (G. Cozzi, G. Boggi, G. Folo), taken from drawings by O. A. Nattini in turn inspired by the triumphs of Perin del Vaga in the atrium of Palazzo Doria in Genoa.
