The Court of Rome puts up at auction the Casino dell'Aurora Boncompagni Ludovisi, the historical building disputed between the heirs of Nicolò Boncompagni Ludovisi.

On the first round of sale the base price started at 471 million euros, a number that has been criticized and that was established in collaboration with art historis Alessandro Zuccari. Many considered this value a bargain for a place that hosts possibly the only wall artwork by Caravaggio, as well as frescos by Baroque masters such as Guercino and Agostino Tassi.

The Italian State was expected to bid on it, and the rumors was that there was a line up of foreign buyers on the hunt for this extraordinary historical building, yet the auction went desert.

The new date for the sale is set on April 7th and the price will be lowered by a 20%. Stay tuned for more updates on this treasure.
