De Chirico made this subject several times during his life, constituting an iconic series of works - Manifesto of his metaphysical poetics. The 1917 Troubadour is the undisputed protagonist of the scene, motionless in its shiny armor, standing on a platform and with an intricate composition of squares and geometric elements.
