PLATINUM Seller in Milano, Italy
Louis Vuitton trunk dating back to 1890, covered in Damier canvas, the famous canvas with alternating brown and beige check patterns, invented a few years earlier by Georges Vuitton, Louis' son. It is a man's trunk of rather large dimensions, therefore commissioned to withstand long journeys. The interior is equipped with shelves and compartments designed to store hats (even large ones such as the top hat) and other essential accessories at the end of '800 as foulards, suspenders, cuffs and collars. The craftsmanship of the Maison is demonstrated by the resistant outer structure, accompanied by the soft interior lining. The conditions are excellent: over the years small restorations have been made preserving everything original, including locks and gilt brass finishes.
