Lombard painting, 17th century
Ancient religious painting from the 17th century. Oil work on canvas depicting a trinity of soldiers of the faith, Fermo, Proloco and Rustico, saints much loved in the Lombard tradition. In the center, San Proloco in episcopal robes imparts the blessing to the two warrior saints who flank him, in a pyramidal structure of great balance and symbolic strength that refers to the Lombard school. In the background, behind a splendid curtain, we glimpse a city, probably Bergamo or Brescia. A work of notable pictorial quality which stands out for the intense rendering of the faces, the preciousness of the drapery and the details of the clothes. Perfect painting for collectors of high-era sacred art, capable of ennobling classic or modern environments with elegance and solemnity. Spectacular 20th century frame in carved, gilded and lacquered wood, with some signs of aging. Work already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small spots. Overall in good state of conservation. Light painting H 116 x W 89 cm.
