Set of 6 oyster/seafood plates – Fine porcelain with mysterious engraving – Europe, mid 20th century
Very elegant set consisting of 6 porcelain plates sculpted in relief, each divided into 6 cavities with a round centre, typical of the service for oysters, seafood or gourmet appetizers.
The decoration is of great charm: each cavity presents a different fish, finely painted with polychrome enamels, with wavy edges underlined by a delicate gold thread. A classic style, much sought after by collectors and also perfect for elegant mise en place.
A particularly interesting detail is the embossed marking, a tone-on-tone engraving that recalls three small stylized waves: a stamp of unidentified origin but typical of very high-end European productions between the 40s and 60s. This element makes the service even more fascinating, with an almost "fine anonymous manufacturing" character, highly appreciated in the collectors' market.
