Item description

Vase made in Czechoslovakia with the Barovier and Toso B.A.G. brand, dating back to the 1980s. It is a blown glass artefact worked with the submersion technique, which consists of immersing the glass already being processed in a crucible containing glass of different colours, thus creating a uniform and precious covering. The shape is classic: the base is narrow and circular, the central body is wide and rounded, while the neck narrows and then widens towards the upper opening, giving life to an elegant and slender silhouette. The color range and workmanship give the piece an elegant but decisive appearance, typical of the artistic production of the 1980s. With original label. The Barovier dynasty was founded in Murano in 1295 and in 1942 it became Barovier & Toso, one of the most prestigious glassmakers on the island. Under the leadership of Ercole Barovier (1889-1974), the company was able to combine tradition and innovation: from Art Nouveau chandeliers to modernist creations such as the Pezzato, Barbarico and Oriente. Even today the family maintains control, and the brand is a symbol of the excellence of Murano glass. MURANO GLASS Murano glass is a type of artistic glass produced on the island of Murano, in the Venice lagoon. It is renowned for its beauty, craftsmanship and centuries-old tradition. Distinctive characteristics of Murano glass include: Vibrant and intense colours: famous for the wide chromatic range obtained through pigments that create rich and brilliant shades. Craftsmanship: requires great skill and precision; the artisans follow traditional techniques passed down for generations, often shaping the glass by hand with specific tools. Murrine: small sections of colored glass arranged in precise patterns within a larger glass mass, used to create complex geometric patterns or images. Lampwork: some Murano glass objects are made using the "lume" technique, which involves modeling glass tubes heated in a flame to obtain the desired shapes. Transparency and brightness: Renowned for its clear transparency and ability to reflect light beautifully, qualities that make it ideal for jewellery, chandeliers and objets d'art.
